‘sensation of choice’, a yes maze

‘sensation of choice’, a yes maze, 2-Dimensional Art
‘sensation of choice’, a yes maze
cotton cord, acrylic and prismatic oil on canvas. this piece is part of a series called ‘infinite answer’. The circle in the center is the starting point, with 8 openings to choose from. Any gallery attendees with washed hands (children should be adult supervised) may lightly follow the pathways by fingertip. This maze has only ‘right’ answers, that is to say, every pathway eventually leads back to the center, with no ‘dead ends’ to encounter. My ‘Infinite Answer’ mazes maintain a minimalist vibe, conforming to a grid. They vary in size, level of difficulty and color, making them adaptable to the needs of any environment. My pieces require hundreds of hours of hands-on construction to make, and the resulting feel of the combination of materials matches the visual impact, so touch and sight are equally considered in this series. Liquid prismatic oil marbles over a multi-day curing process, producing organic networks that appear repetitive, but upon closer inspection, reveal unique subtleties, as the veins in a leaf. Enamored with this material, I was driven to give it a home amongst my maze channels. As one experiences the intricacy of each ‘moment’ along the marbled pathways that evoke nature’s beauty, might they realize the ‘answer’ is everywhere. Standing still or running in circles, moving forward or moving back, the answer moves with us.
